Welcome to Sidcup Day Nursery

Sidcup Day Nursery & Forest School is a private, family-run day nursery covering Sidcup, Eltham and surrounding areas of Kent to provide high quality childcare and education for children aged three months to five years.

We provide a wonderful haven for your children to learn, grow and play. The little ones are the centre of everything we do. We aim to ensure that every child in our care develops socially and intellectually in a happy, stimulating and caring environment.

We are medium size nursery, operating from a purpose-built nursery facility. This means we offer a personal touch; get to know your child much better and work more closely with parents as partners. Our mission is to give your child a safe, loving, home from home environment and not lost in a large group.

“Staff are responsive to children's individual care needs and deploy themselves effectively. Children feel happy, safe and secure in the nursery and are making good progress in their learning and development” Ofsted report 2018

Warm, Friendly & Homely

We learn through play; every child is unique and are encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace. We strive to set the solid background for children to build lifelong skills in a friendly and fun way, while focusing on the EYFS curriculum. Through both Child-led and Teacher-led activities, a child’s key worker will plan activities to support their next steps to learn and develop. Our resources are stored in transparent boxes, accessible at children’s eye-level allowing the child to freely select their own resources while exploring different areas such as role play area, sand area, reading area, me-time area (quiet area) and many more..

FOREST SCHOOL

The Forest schools concept originated in Scandinavia in the 1950s. It is an inspirational process that encourages learners to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on, outdoor learning experiences in a woodland, forest or natural environment. This learning environment helps children to explore the natural world by doing, developing their natural skills in problem-solving, social interaction, risk-taking in a safe environment, thinking and general wellbeing to last them a lifetime.

Research in the early year’s sector shows the positive impact that these types of schools have on young children’s development. Our Forest school activities are led by a Forest School Qualified Teacher with several years’ experience working with children.
