“Staff are responsive to children's individual care needs and deploy themselves effectively. Children feel happy, safe and secure in the nursery and are making good progress in their learning and development” Ofsted report 2018

At Family Tree Day Nursery, we place huge importance on working in partnership with parents and guardians. We actively provide parents with feedback on the child’s development and we encourage parent feedback, reviews and suggestions on a regular basis.

We operate a key worker system with each child assigned to a key worker (a member of staff). During your child’s settling-in period, you will be introduced to your child’s key worker who will get to know as much as possible about you and your child.

Newsletters are emailed weekly and there is also a parent’s board displayed at the entrance lobby with information.

We encourage parents’ participation in our learning; can visit at any time during nursery hours to take part in nursery activities with prior agreement with nursery management. Can volunteer in school outings and trips, talk about different cultures and story time in different cultures.
At Family Tree, we think it’s very important for parents to be partnered with us in making sure the children are happy and developing well. With this in mind, we make sure there are hand-overs at the end of each child’s day as well as using the Baby Days application to record their progress. Parents can also access Baby Days and tell us about their child’s milestones. We also work with parents to protect their children and jointly decide on what they will learn next.

  • Other areas we work with parents include:
  • Parents evenings to check on children’s progress
  • Potty training ideas
  • Paediatric First Aid training (this is a professional certificated course)
  • Workshops with parents including Bringing the Curriculum into Play and Phonics through Play

We also have extra-curricular activities scheduled including music and sound lessons, languages and specialist outside companies who help us make the curriculum come alive!

Brush Bus Scheme
We’re on board for happy healthy teeth!

The Brush Bus Bromey aims to provide a scheme for nurseries and preschool settings to improve the oral health of children by increasing their exposure to fluoride by tooth brushing and extending into the daily hygiene routine at home.
Working with Bromley Healthcare, we provide training to staff in the setting, oral health promotion messages to both parents and children, and the equipment and follow up for the scheme.
Children practice tooth brushing with fluoride toothpaste within the nursery setting with a view to extending this into their daily routine at home with supervision.
We increase parent’s confidence in their ability to undertake regular brushing at home.
The scheme makes parents aware of other preventative measures that can be undertaken to reduce caries.
The bus will be available for all children, which needs written parental consent, which is available to complete from the nursery reception.
